Breast implant profiles

Do not forget to discuss your breast implant profiles options with your surgeon. Profile is the level of your implant's forward projection relative to the base diameter. Simply speaking, by selecting a specific profile you can determine how much your implant is going to stick out.

The profiles are a relatively new option, but at the time of this writing both Mentor and Inamed offer full range of profile options:

  • low
  • standard/medium/moderate - normal profile
  • moderate plus
  • high
  • The profile allows your cosmetic surgeon to better match your desired breast projection to your individual body frame. The most important factor for profile selection is the base diameter of the breast, then the patient's desires. For a woman with a narrow frame, a moderate or low profile implant of the desired volume could be too wide and reach too far to the cleavage and underarm. High profile breast implants are a good option in this situation because they offer more volume per the base diameter, and, conversely a low or moderate profile may be a good choice for a woman with a wide frame - because they are not going to stick out too far.

If you are not sure - do not stress out - let your surgeon have the last word.
